Post Vacation

Our vacation wasn't fun as much as it was a business trip for hubby. His, soon-to-be, 102 father needed some finances arranged.

We left TX when it was 75 degrees to Illinois in the 30s in the day and 20s at night with snowflakes and rain. It is still winter in the north. Of course, I was ready with a very good coat. I wore this coat I bought from Burlington Coats back when our son graduated from Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes, Illinois. OMG, it was so very cold.

The old 200+ old houses were amazing to see again. I couldn't get enough. Long ago there was one house in that area that had an underground tunnel from the river to the house for slaves who wanted to get away from slavery. So the story goes. Too bad Illinois is so cold, heavily taxed, and fairly WOKE. Cold is something we no longer want at our age.

Now back at home where everything is comfortable. Back to our daily routine. It was nice to sleep in our bed and have AMAZING coffee. I can't believe how many t-shirts I just washed (15 I believe). Since we retired we live in t-shirts and jeans. Nothing fancy in this One-Horse-Town. Life is simple here.

Our dog spent the week at Paradise Ranch For Dogs. He loves it there and the gal that runs it is very sweet. It's only 10 minutes from our house. She sent us a short video of him playing with another dog. How nice of her. He was READY to come home and very excited.

Now, as soon as it warms up it's time to plant the garden. We won't get too crazy.
