It's starting to get a bit cooler at night here in central Texas—45 degrees in the morning and 70 during the day. Fall is one of our favorite seasons here. Hubby doesn't have to mow the lawn much and the garden is about over. One thing that has been growing out of control is lettuce. I mean I love salads but it's crazy. Next year I won't plant as much.

They are two of my favorite lettuce brands. |

Small but packed with flavor: radishes, beets, carrots, turnips |
Last year we bought our seeds from Johnny Seeds and have decided to purchase our new spring seeds with a veteran-owned business called David's Garden Seeds. Hubby is going to add a few more above-the-ground planters. We have been pretty lucky with bug issues other than ants. Fire ants don't like the smell of white vinegar so we spread that around our planters. It doesn't kill them it just moves them. We lure the tiny black ants into bottles with Borax and sugar. None of these ants eat the plant they are just a nuisance.
