Fermentation The Key to Digestive Health

Digestion is very important for your health. I wish I knew all about the benefits of fermentation 30 years ago. 

Since retirement, I have delved into old fashion cures and health benefits. My first fermentation was sauerkraut. It's not hard to make kraut. I use a quart jar, 1 head of cabbage, salt, water, glass weight, and silicone fermentation lids. When my jar is about 3/4 gone I start another one. It takes between 2-3 weeks.

Unfortunately, store-bought sauerkraut's benefits have been cooked out.

Did you know Sourdough Bread is fermented? You get ALL the benefits if you make it yourself. After 7 days ALL milled grains have lost all their benefits/vitamins. The stores add them back along with other things you don't need. Making this bread is a gift of love as it takes some time. If you know of someone who will give you a bit of their starter you are set. You can also buy a sourdough starter mix. As for me, I am the DIY girl like Lisa is on Farmhouse On Boone.
